WP Password Policy plugin updates released (Free: 3.5.0, PRO: 3.9.0): Restrict Specific Special Characters in Passwords

We’re excited to announce that new versions of WP Password Policy are now available: free (3.5.0) and PRO (3.9.0). These releases include a new option that gives site admins control over which special characters are disallowed in user passwords.

You can now prevent one or more specific characters (e.g., quotes, backslashes) from being used, addressing an edge case raised by a member of our community.

This addition makes it easier to maintain compatibility with external clients, third-party systems, or legacy integrations that may choke on certain characters. The feature was implemented in response to a support request, and we appreciate the feedback that helped shape it.

As always, these releases also include routine dependency updates, bug fixes, and internal improvements to keep the plugin stable and secure.

You can download the free version from the WordPress.org plugin directory and update your PRO version via the Customer Portal. Let us know how this feature works for you and share any further feedback or suggestions!
